From a modest Haryana family, Dr. Jitender Aggarwal studied Dentistry in Karnataka, and opened his own Dental clinic in Delhi. When tragedy struck in 2004!
Rewind back to 2004 when Dr. Jitender Aggarwal’s life and career, took a completely different turn. He started losing his vision due to a non-treatable concern- Macular Degeneration of retina and suddenly his career and life came to a halt. But he knew he can’t sit and mope. He learnt medical transcription and tried working out on everything that would come to his knowledge to support his family.
One day, a thought dawned on him. "Weren't there, many others like me grappling with many disabilities? I had some kind of financial backup, several others didn't. Couldn’t I help a few others pick up what I was doing? People gave them charity; some even trained them but no one empowered them find sustainable jobs".
As in his wife, Dr. Suman Aggarwal’s words- “With Adversity comes an opportunity”, and our founder made sure to mould it in the best way possible.
On his quest to break barriers, Dr. Jitender Aggarwal founded Sarthak Educational Trust for people with disabilities in July 2008, with the aim of making lives of persons with disabilities Sarthak (successful), enabling them to become Masters of their own Destiny and finding its own success in theirs.

In 2004 while practising as a dentist, Dr. Aggarwal started losing his vision due to Macular Degeneration of Retina, a non-treatable concern. During this period, he realized the agony with which a PwD's go through due to constraints such as non-inclusive environment and limited access to resources and opportunities. With God’s grace and support from various relevant persons he first got himself trained in screen readers and other software to manage and execute his daily activities through Computers, and gradually started with skilling and employment of visually impaired candidates in Medical Transcription in Delhi.
This combination of extreme physical deformity and intellectual steadiness throws a very clear message that physical structure may cause challenges, may make you struggle for day-to-day tasks, but it has nothing to do with defining your potential. The only factor that defines one’s potential is his/her perception of self.
